The Sixth Judicial District Youth and Family Services was established pursuant to statute. The agency is under the jurisdiction of Sixth Judicial District Judges Richard A. Wagner and Michael R. Montero along with the Juvenile Probation Advisory Board. Edward Sampson serves as the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer and Samuel H. Matheny is the Juvenile Court Master.

The Juvenile Probation Advisory Board is a board that advices and gives direction to Youth and Family Services. The existence of the Board is mandated by N.R.S. Chapter 62. Advisory board members are appointed by the District Court Judges. The Advisory Board has five members (three representatives from Winnemucca, one representative from Lovelock and one representative from Battle Mountain). The Board meets on a quarterly basis to discuss all aspects of the agency. Meetings are in held in Winnemucca, Lovelock and Battle Mountain.

The Sixth Judicial Youth and Family Services has offices in Humboldt, Lander, and Pershing Counties.
